Onsdag 17. mai klarte noen å kidnappe radiosignalene til
rockestasjonen WBAB i New York. I 90 sekunder ble det spilt en svært provoserende sang med
rasistisk innhold. WBAB ser alvorlig på saken og har utlovet en dusør på 10 000 dollar for de
som kan gi opplysninger som fører til arrestasjon. Dette er meldingen på kanalens hjemmeside:
"Wednesday, May 17th, at about 7:10am, a pirate hacked into the WBAB 102.3 signal.
During the 90 seconds that they had control of our airwaves, the pirates broadcast an offensive song filled with racial slurs.
This is not some child's prank, this is a federal offense. We condemn their actions and their harmful words, are asking for a full investigation into this matter by the FCC and contatcting local authorities to assist us into finding out who did this.
Clearly, someone has a bone to pick with WBAB, and understands the broadcast business well enough, to know how to hack into our signal, and has access to this equipment and obviously was able to gain access to our broadcast.
Cox Radio and 102.3 WBAB are sickened by this incident. It goes against everything we stand for, and we are taking steps to make sure that nothing like this ever happens again.
We are putting up a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the successful conviction of the person or persons who penetrated the WBAB signal. "
